Feature Film

Noah was the first project I worked on as team lead. We had a great crew at Prime Focus in Vancouver and I had a blast teaching junior artists.

Aerial Timelapse in Genesis Scene

This project had some pretty cool sequences that were fun to composite in stereo. One of the most notable sequences was the “Genesis” scene which illustrates the evolution of Earth as a flyby timelapse.

Evolution of Species in Genesis Scene

The Genesis sequence was a single shot travelling through various parts of earth. This part of the shot showed the evolution of species.

Closing Shot of the Film

The final shot of the film featured a helicopter view of this mountainous landscape. I was experimenting with deriving a mesh from a point cloud created from a 3D camera track. I rendered out a depth map from the mesh and ran it through our stereo pipeline. The end result was spectacular but unfortunately was too late and the rotoscoped version of depth made it in the final cut. On the bright side, our team used this new technique for the aerial shots in Transformers: Age of Extinction.
